An Introduction to Cyber Security

You should know that the internet day by day isn’t safe, there are some people willing to steal some data including yours, so you should know what cyber security is all about to keep your guard from hackers.
Cyber Security is a security that is used to protect software, mobile devices, servers, and data from any kind of cyber threats like cybercrime, cyber-attack, and cyberterrorism. Cyber security is in high demand since internet users increase day by day and potentially get hacked.
As stated by IT security whiz worldwide in a survey, since the COVID-19 pandemic, cyberthreats has risen quite high in the area of data exfiltration and outflow, all the industries from a small company, big company, government organization, even an individual can be a target by cyber threats, no exception. These cyber-threats can steal important data, money, and personal information mostly for their own benefit and evil purposes. Since hackers are becoming more brilliant with their malware, Cyber Security also tries to find new ways to protect their assets from hackers.
When Yahoo got hacked, probably it’s one of the biggest public cyber-breach in history. It started when a bunch of hackers had settled 1 billion accounts and security questions and answers were also settled which increased the danger of identity fraud. The breach itself was first announced by Yahoo on December 14, 2016 and compelled all altered users to convert their password and repeat all the unencrypted security query and response to make them ultimately encrypted.
After all, in October 2017, Yahoo resolved about 3 billion user accounts, and an examination published that users’ passwords in clear text, payment card data, and bank information were not stolen.
So we can conclude that it’s important to be aware of the possibility of cyber threats coming through online devices, especially through the internet, for example, don’t ever click on an unknown link out of curiosity. It contains virus that can damage your computer and made you lose all your personal files. If it’s through email, it’s called phishing. It’s one of the cyber attacks using link and attachment via email. In order to avoid phishing, there are some ways to differentiate it such as delete the email if you don’t know the sender or if you do know the sender and it looks bizarre, try to contact them for confirmation, and if it’s seems convincing as if from a legitimate company, check the address if it matches the company.
