8 Things to Do Before An Interview

Did you get an invitation for an interview? Congratulations! Because you are at the first step to getting your job. But, before that, you must prepare for it. Because the interview is one of the essential aspects of determining whether you get accepted, we know that the interview is one of the scariest things to face, and people always worry about that. But, don’t worry guys, we will provide eight things to do before the interview to help you ace the interview!
1. Outfit as your company which you are applying for
The first thing is the outfit. The first impression of the interviewer when seeing you for the first time is from your outfit. So make sure your outfit is suitable when you get interviewed at the company. If you apply to the corporate or government, you must wear a formal outfit such as a shirt or blazer. Nevertheless, suppose you apply to a start-up or creative company. In that case, you can wear casual outfits like jeans, a t-shirt, cardigans, and sneakers! Remember, whatever company you’re going to visit, make sure your clothes still look polite.
2. On-Time!
The interviewer will respect you if you come on time for the interview. So being on time exactly can give a point plus interview. Then, of course, you can get a bigger chance to get accepted by the company. And by coming on time, you have a little time to ask the interviewer furthermore about your job or the work-life of the company.
3. Research the company
When you are in the interview, you usually get asked about the company itself and the job desk you are applying for. And mostly, the interviewer asks why you want to work in the company? You can look for some information about the company’s official website, LinkedIn, or from your college senior (if any). By doing some research, the interviewer will know that you know the company well.
4. Bring extra documents
Even if you have submitted documents by email when applied, you should bring extra documents for the emergency. Sometimes, the interviewer asks for a hard copy — either CV or portfolio.
5. Give some enthusiasm and positive vibes.
When the interviewee asks, you can answer as long as you can and as fast as you can with a clear voice, but don’t talk too much and get too fast either because you may say something out of the topic. Moreover, maintaining eye contact with the interviewer shows how serious you are about the interview. Therefore, pay attention to that too!
6. Prepare things before an interview.
Preparing notes and pen is a bold move, just in case you have something to write. Water to keep you hydrated, your certificate of achievement, academic certificate, and certificate of training related to your job are things that can be prepared too. Just in case if your interviewer would like to see it or ask for it. Some money in case of emergency, mint gum to keep your breath fresh, photo ID, laptop, etc., whatever that makes you comfortable!
7. Don’t forget to keep your phone on airplane mode.
Tones or vibrations coming out from your phone from an alarm or incoming call can interrupt the interviewing process and may get your interviewer a minus point. So, just as if you come late for an interview, make sure to turn off your alarm and silence your phone!
8. Eat some healthy food.
Many people don’t get breakfast and drink some milk or eat a piece of bread, but you need more than that. You need more energy by eating healthy food like rice with vegetables, fish, or eggs to help you concentrate in the interview process.
